Mentis Medica provides physician directed and reviewed orthopaedic consultation services. Standards of care involving medical malpractice along with procedural irregularities, treatments and billing are evaluated and a detailed analysis is performed for the client.  

Skills in summary evaluation  

Being an associate editor of The Journal of Arthroscopy, reviewer for The Journal of Sports Medicine, and Ebsco/Dynamed orthopedic section editor, he is uniquely qualified to summarize and refine any evaluation to a brief and concise review. The analysis will be based on the most recent peer reviewed literature and meta analysis data.

Confidentiality and Fairness

After a review performed within five business days, a confidential call will be made and a summary opinion will be given. If the case involves medical liability, an impression will be given Ii there has been a deviation in treatment based on standards of care, an opinion will be stated based on recent medical literature. All opinions are considered privileged. Continued involvement in the case must be mutually agreed to by both Dr. Siegel and the consulting party.

·     My clinical practice was based on my specialty in joint reconstruction, knee replacement, sports medicine and joint arthroplasty. My practice did consist of  direct patient care, , administrative, supervisory and quality assurance overview. 

Having ceased active clinical practice in 2017. medical consultation services are performed under the corporate name, Mentis Medica. I maintain an active medical license in Ohio.

As the Medical Director of Orthopaedics at the Jewish/Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio and the medical director of Genex BWC/Ohio, my responsibilities involved the review of standard of care.Over 1000 reviews for BWC have been submitted following surgical standards and indicating whether a requested procedure is necessary and appropriate.

Being the Associate Editor for the Journal of Arthroscopy. articles are reviewed for the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Systemic literature review and meta analysis is performed along with topic development as the editor for Dynamed Ebsco online medical information. I am involved in the s Fellowship program education and teaching at Cincinnati Sportsmedicine and Orthopaedic Center. Having performed over 4000 knee replacements and nearly 7000 procedures knee surgeries along with general orthopedics, allows the evaluation of the standards of care of almost any knee or general orthopedic procedure. 

I have performed and been deposed in both local, state, and federal court for issues of malpractice or personal liability.  A personal appearance and court deposition will be performed if a case does go to trial.

All appropriate cases will be reviewed. An opinion on the merits of the case will be given within five business days. A written review may be requested following a verbal discussion of the case. 

Additionally, evaluate medical records and chart reviews can be performed for evaluation of the treatment and care standards. Consultation services may be requested to understand current treatment , procedures and protocols. 

If requested or needed, my review will include information that includes supportive peer review references. Additionally, necessary direction and published references to assist in the understanding of a difficult case or complex procedure may be given.

I have found that providing the reasoning behind the opinion is critical in any medical review. This often requires time to explain the complexity of an issue and provide supportive information to allow a full understanding of the problem. 

Upon receipt of a request for review, information should be sent and a preliminary evaluation will be performed within seven days. At that time, the information will be discussed and a decision made as to how to proceed with the case.
